What becomes of the broken and discarded?

Totem of discarded children's toys 1600mm high x 500mm wide

 Toy Tower $980,

Is there an afterlife for toys?

What becomes of them after they have been abandoned as the children grow up and no longer find them stimulating and exciting?
This work examines aspects of consumerism in our culture and the short time span of our attention to things that amuse us.
Tiny superheroes, like superman and Buzz Light-year rub shoulders with Ronald McDonald and his band of Happy Meal toys.
Bart and Homer Simpson live on in this sculpture with Jimmy Neutron,Puss in boots, transformers, Snoopy and Shrek all jostling for space in this Toy Tower after being rescued from garage sales, Hospice shops, Salvation Army shops and the landfill.
My thanks to all the wonderful volunteers at these shops who have helped in my quest for toys.
